June 28, 2013

We woke up at 7:15 am and ate breakfast. We went to work at 8:00 am met up with Alfonso and he put us to work on the Galveztown project. We laid out the master frame and found out what two pieces were missing.  We laid the templates over some lumber to mark it with a pencil then we cut the pieces on the band saw. One piece we cut with a chainsaw first in order to reduce the weight of the piece. Once the pieces were cut we brushed on some linseed oil to help protect the wood. Alfonso then took off and we made tree nails until 1:00 pm. We went the supermarket to get bread for our lunch on the way back from work. We ate lunch at the hostel and talked about our plans for the next day. At 4:00 pm we went the beach to go swimming and found that you float without needing to do anything.  We swam out past the lagoons a few times and never worried about sinking down in the water, we got back to the hostel at 6:00 pm. With a quick shower and shave we got ready for dinner with the language professor Febles and his wife Pat. Everyone else left to get tickets to the Alhambra while I stayed back and wrote a journal entry. We stopped at a place that serves hard cider by holding the glass three to four feet above the glass that they pour into.  This was done because in the old days sediment would form in the glass and they would split half of the cider into the glass and the other half with the sediment would be the waste. We ate Tapas at a place downtown where we had a bunch of different plates then we went to another tapas bar and had some more dishes. We had a good time listing to old stories of Spain that the professor and his wife had to tell about their experiences. We then took the bus back to the hostel and went to bed.
