July 1, 2013

Today was another one of our longer days. We went to work in the morning and ended up staying until 2pm. Supposedly our course spans from 8am to 11am and if we wish to stay longer we then become “volunteers” of the Astilleros. We liked this idea from day one and we came to help as much as we can, so three hours just wasn’t enough! We mostly worked only on the Phoenician replica today. After work we stopped by the local market Mercadona to stock up on lunch foods. Then, we were all pretty exhausted so we ended up taking an afternoon siesta along with the rest of the Spanish. After recharging from our nap, we made plans to go to dinner here at the beach and found a new restaurant with the same name as our hostel. It’s called Restaurante Las Acacias, and man do they have the best grilled fish. Between the four of us we shared two paellas and one big whole fish, with the head and all, which turned out to be quite a delicious experience!
